Nox for Windows is a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). It opens the same Nox you use in the browser in its own window — same account, same conversations, same safety layer — with a Start menu and desktop shortcut instead of a browser tab.

What the desktop app does

• Sign in with your existing account — The same sign-in as the website. Your plan, usage allowance and saved conversations are the ones already on your account — nothing separate to buy or set up.
• Chat with streaming replies — Full chat, including live streamed answers, attachments, image results and the Leo safety layer, exactly as on the web.
• Voice calls — Voice mode works in the desktop window. Windows asks for microphone permission the first time; the app requests it only for Nox itself.
• Files in and out — Upload photos and documents with the normal Windows file picker or by dragging them in, and save downloads through the standard Windows save dialog.
• Links open in your browser — Any link that leaves Nox opens in your default browser instead of taking over the app window.

Requirements

• Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit (x64)
• About 400 MB of free disk space
• An internet connection — the desktop app talks to the same Nox service as the website
• A Nox account (free plan works)

Installing

• Download the installer — The download is a single file, Nox-Setup-1.0.0-x64.exe.
• Approve the unsigned-app warning — This first release is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”. Choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”. If you would rather not, keep using Nox in your browser — it has the same features.
• Install — The installer runs for the current user and does not ask for administrator rights. You can change the install folder, and it creates a Start menu and desktop shortcut named Nox.
• Sign in — Open Nox from the Start menu and sign in as you would on the website. You stay signed in between launches.

What this first release does not do

• The desktop app is not code-signed yet, so Windows will warn you the first time you run the installer.
• It needs an internet connection. There is no offline mode: no offline chat, no offline access to your health data.
• There is no automatic updating. To move to a newer build, download and run the installer again.
• Windows 64-bit only for now — there is no macOS, Linux or 32-bit Windows build.
• It is a desktop window around the Nox web app, not a rewritten native app, so it has no tray icon, global hotkeys or start-on-boot.

Privacy and security

The installer contains only the desktop window and the public Nox front end — no API keys and no credentials are packaged inside it. The desktop app talks to the same Nox service as the website, over HTTPS, and is covered by the same Privacy Policy and Terms.

Uninstalling

Uninstall from Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Nox → Uninstall, or from the Nox entry in the Start menu. Uninstalling removes the app; your account and conversations stay on your account and remain available in the browser.
